I have a OnePlus5. I've only had it a couple of months. Are any of you aware of an issue with this phone (or any others Android phones) that cannot connect to the new GoPro Hero6 Black camera on the 5ghz band?

The camera broadcasts on channel 161 within the 5ghz band but my phone and several other phones I have access to can't receive the signal.

My laptop and series 2 iPad can see channel 161.

Apparently it's a GoPro issue. Their new Hero6 Black camera broadcasts on channel 161 of the 5ghz band that's not used in many places outside the US. In fact one person on the GoPro community is reporting that using that channel on that band in their country is illegal!

Some phones can connect, others can't so it's not just a OnePlus 5 issue.

Us GoPro users are waiting to see what the manufacturer does, which will probably be nothing.

Thanks for asking.

Have you got the option of extended WiFi in your advanced WiFi options?

Not on the options I have. I've trawled the settings for something like that, but to no avail.
