So I've spent way too much time trying to figure this out. I have N9 Lte - all working fine until 5.1.1 update effectively killed SMS and MMS completely - nothing works, not reciving or sending. I've tried sideloading G Messenger, GoSMS and a few others, but nothing works.
I had MMS re-provisioned - nothing
I've even got a new tablet after RMAing for dodgy screen - same problem.
If I downgrade to 5.0.1 - it works....in 5.0.2 it's fine also, but in 5.1.1 - nothing. It's driving me crazy as I paid more for the Lte, and I'm paying for a package which includes SMS that I can't ever use.
Can anyone tell me why messaging broke in 5.1.1?

Are you able to help me at all please @Chris_K ? or point me in the right direction?
Sorry for the delay - I'm getting it looked into and will pop back soon as I have more info. It may be a known issue (now) or may need further investigation but i'll let you know when I hear more.

Not yet, the team are awaiting receipt of a Nexus 9 tablet so they can test and look into this further. I'll keep you updated on any progress.

Oh well, installed Android 6 and this problem persists! 😞 So this was still introduced with Android 5.1

So I guess @Chris_K there is no update here then 😞
I tried again through google - no, they know nothing of this problem.
I tried O2 - of course yet again no one know what a Nexus 9 is, so you can imagine how that went.
This problem should be easy to nail down - it's easy enough to reproduce it - just update any N9 to Android 5.1 or greater. It's sad that It's left to the customer to go to the store (where they've never seen an N9, nor did they beleive I bought it from o2) to get them to send it back again. They don't even have one there to test themselves. Oh yeah, I even have to downgrade the Nexus before I take it to the store just so they can see what happens?!?!? Do they know how long this takes?? I reckon i've spengt the best part of a week testing, flashing, testing, upgrading, downgrading, safe mode, factory images etc etc. Someone needs to be invoiced for about £500
This is a very negative experience of Google, HTC and O2 for me.

Can I really be the only (fool??) that bought one of these from O2?

I think Chris is on holiday this week so I'm sure he will respond as soon as he back in work.
