When I attempt to install the Firefox app on my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT5830i I am advised that the app is not compatible with the Samsung O2GT5830i (NOTE: O2 GT5830i) although the GT5830i is included in the app's compatibility list. Does anyone know what is going on?

There ar no relevant questions anywhere on O2 nor when searched on the internet, at least any that I can find.

Check the official capatability list and minimum specs at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements   -  see if there's anything in there.

It may be worth seeing if the latest Beta version will install - from what I've read, it's way better than the current release.  I believe it's on "play" as Firefox Beta.
