I just got a new Android phone, tried to send my friend a pick by mms and it wouldn't send.switched on the data switch/data enabled and it sent right away.only to find out the data switch charges me to have it switched on.my old Nokia didn't need the Internet switched on all the time to send stuff.
I saved the settings 2020 and nothing.
Any help would be great

I think BoB is correct. MMS uses data connection, whereas sms will work with data switched off. I think MMS are charged at around 35p each too (and dont come out of any text message allowance).
You could always consider e-mailing the pics when you are in a Wi-FI area, or like BoB says consider a data bolt-on. Think they start from c.£3 a month, but you will get a lot more functionality/features from a smartphone if it can access the 'net.

As far as I'm aware you need a data connection to send MMS messages (picture messages)
You may want to look at adding a data bundle.

Little point having an Android smartphone unless you have a data allowance to use with it.
MMS has always used data.

I'm not paying for virgin media web and mobile web at the same time.i don't really need access to the web when I'm out.all I'm saying is that is stupid that a phone needs to be online to send a MMS.My old Nokia C3 never had these problems

I presume the OP has Virgin Media broadband and is loathe to pay for data bolt on as well.
