Follow the advice given asap as until the bars get added you are liable for any calls made!
As for insurance, you can check on my O2 or ask customer services. If you don't have it with O2, check your bank account benefits. and home insurance contents, you may be covered. hope this helps

O2 will send you a replacement SIM card.
Please note you'll need to ring their Customer Services Department to have the account bar lifted before it will work in another phone.
