Please could you tell me when Kit-Kat will be available for my Note 2 over Kies or OTA?

It doesn't bode well that they haven't released it yet. Perhaps @Chris_K has some further info?

We approved the software last week and pushed back to Samsung for release, so now I'm afraid it's a waiting game. Once we send software back to vendors we typically expect it to start pushing out within 1-2 weeks, so we're hoping you'll start seeing these push out very soon, over the next few days.

I'll have another check into things to see if there have been any unexpected delays in that process, but the good news is that we've definitely approved the KitKat update and sent back for release.

Way to go chris you've just passed the buck to Samsung, nothing for weeks and then it not us any more ok so stop asking us. The other thing I think customers should be treated a lot back by o2 staff who are not being trained as they should as live chat just informed me that o2 are still waiting for the update from Samsung and when I said you had it in June like all the other UK carriers I was told I was wrong and basically didn't know what I was talking about but sadly that's par for the course with o2 and the reason why after over 10yrs of being treated like a 2nd class person I'm off.

Sorry you feel we're passing the buck - I assure you if it came across like that, I apologise as it's not the case. To give you some insight into updates, there are many steps and processes involved. One of these steps are for us to test the software and send back to the vendors for them to release it to customers. This is a manual process and once the vendors have these, it typically takes 1-2 weeks for it to be pushed to customers. We are still within this window and don't believe for there to be any delays, but it's something I'm looking out for.

I will always try to help where I can and keep the community informed on device and software updates as best I can. I liaise frequently with our device team to obtain this information - while I have the privilege of being able to do this, this isn't something our chat team have access to so I apologise for any frustration or confusion caused by this.

If you have any chat logs I would be happy to feed back your experience to our chat team manager.

yes there are many steps, far too hard for mere customers to grasp, which which every other provider managed to do ages ago,  by the comment already made you claim it was sent back to samsung a week ago so why not an update then. nothing has changed from the previous upgrade performance.

As for chat yes they are poor but worse than that they tell you they do know and you are wrong not we dont know but we will get back to you.

Frankly your approach to customer service is not fit for purpose

Well here we are, almost a year after KitKat released, and it finally looks like O2 "might" be OTA to its "valued" customers. Well...thank you...for all your hard work!  Not!

I have spent 15 years with O2.  Having checked the coverage map of my area, they barely cover it with 2G.  I tried the "chat guru" and they said I had to speak to their network people on 202 - yes, the same number as retentions.  After 45 minutes on the phone call, it was finally answered and after a brief conversation discussing exactly the same issue, I was given a PAC code.  What a shame.

Lets not pretend that the delay is due to testing and IT geeks ensuring it all works - Samsung don't spend billions on R&D for a small country's mobile network to have to "test" the software they have re-engineered from the Android base code.  Rather, this is operators such as O2 trying to plug the latest phones pre-shipped with KitKat or Lollipop and the delay in upgrading of older models is a strategy to enable this to happen.  Why all the lies, smoke and mirrors?  Just be honest with your customers - they are not all idiots!

Anyway, EE has good 3G coverage over most of Somerset and elsewhere so I'm jumping ship.  I hope their customer service is better than the so-called guru's who seem to be no more than standard customer service with access to an O2 database of questions and little or no inside or technical knowledge.

Sorry for the rant but I don't like being patronised.

agree with chat man I have found , when you can get through, the phone help is better but it is the clear contempt for customers who dont want to rush for the next latest wiszz bang phone but want to have a top end product  after the initial bugs are sorted and keep it for its life I run the note2 2x galaxy3 and a an ace as a spare phone plus a my own company phone another note 2(not with O2 as it came as part of a start up package).

I will be getting a note 4 and two of the new samsung Alphas but now will probably switch to my business phone supplier.Their service is not perfect but what makes me spit feathers is when, being told its not being done, then all the work that has to be done to check the software etc by o2 my other Note 2 had KIt Kat just over a month after initial release. Perhaps if O2 didnt "customise" its phones so much they could get yhem out sooner.

Why is it that I and seemingly others as well feel the "isnt going tio be done, will take a long time" etc are a ploy to make people buy a new device?

Whatever the reasons given I find it totally unacceptable that a customer should have to wait this long. The phone will be obsolete in the not too distant future. It begs the question as to why the ridiculous delay and what incentive does it give people to buy a branded phone crook O2. Nothing springs to mind.

The Note 2 is already obsolete because it has had its last update KK 4.4.2. There are no more updates slated for the Note 2 and so it looks like JB 4.3 for o2 customers is it.
