There is very little difference (to the average user) between the source code for 4.1 & 4.2, however, when the S3 gets 4.2 from Samsung I would expect it will get many of the software features that will be in the S4 ROM. Just how much of that will be capable of running on the S2 I'm unsure about. We'll just have to wait and see what they tempt us with slight_smile

Maybe you need to delete the phone and reconnect if it continues....

Hi, after having issues with the connector on my sg2 a few weeks ago I sent my phone in for repair. When they sent it back the note said they'd updated my firmware. I just went to update to the newest firmware via Kies and I get this message...

your device's current firmware is not supported to update firmware via kies

PDA:LPH/ PHONE:LPC/ CSC:LP4 (XXX)

My phone shows the current firware installed is 4.0.3

Is there any way I can update to the newest firmware? Thank you in advance.

Yes, use Odin. I've posted the instructions before on this thread.

I guessed I may have to go that route. Thank you for the quick reply!

I have an O2 branded unrooted Galaxy S2 which is unlocked.  I received a download OTA of about 350mb (over wifi) but was in France at the time.  Should I run this or might it be a French version of Jellybean put out by whichever network I was logged into at the time?

Also, when I upgraded from Gingerbread to ICS it was only available bu Kies and not OTA.  Should I ignore the OTA| update and run Kies?  Is there any advantage in doing this?

The update came from O2 - It couldn't come from anywhere else. Just install it. OTA updates are O2's new thing for JB wink
