Galaxy s2 switching off during apps, battery issues but now stuck on o2 screen help!!!

Anonymous

Hi

My s2 in the last week has been turning off automatically even when i know the battery has sufficent life in it. Proir to the weekend it started shutting down during using apps like ebay, facebook. Have been able to turn it back on and all has been fine.......Until now,did it saturday morning and i havent been able to turn it on since. It is stuck bewtween showing the blue o2 screen and the black screen with the white samsung writing on it. It flicks between the two. Ive tried removing battery,re boot via info on the web and also trying to connect to Kies through pc,the phone is having none of it.

Now i can see a few posts below that it could be that i need a more powerfull battery could that be the only problem??

Any help or advice appreciated,im at my wits end without a decent phone!!!

I dont have phone insurance, and in contract until sept 13.

Thanks

Don't panic as the phone is under warranty (unless you've dropped it or dunked it in the toilet;)). First thing to try is to get into recovery mode (Hold Vol UP + Home + Power) Let go when you see the samsung logo and hope that it goes to a screen with lots of small writing on it. Use vol down to select "clear cache" then press power button. Then vol down again to "clear data/factory reset" and press power key. vol down to "yes" and power key again. If successful, phone should reboot back to normal. If not contact Samsung for a repair.

Do you have a Google account? If so all your contacts should be backed up there and will re-sync with phone when you sign into your account. I would have warned you about backing up first but as your phone was dead there wasn't much point wink

You can copy your contacts to the SIM but you can only save a limited amount of data compared to the phone storage and the phone requires the numbers on the phone itself for many of the functions. Best way is just to back them all up to your Google account slight_smile

In all seriousness though, glad you're sorted.

I had 2 Samsung Galaxy S2's do this. Contract started July '11 and sent the phone back twice. It would randomly turn off and re-boot. After upgrading from Gingerbread to ICS, it didn't turn off, but froze with the message 'kernal panic upload mode'. The next replacement went back to turning off though. I believe it is an issue with the S2, unless I am very unlucky! Now have Samsung Galaxy Nexus and not had any such issues.
