Galaxy S2 stuck on boot screen

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

Ive had my Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) for nearly 18 months now and this morning my phone was off, which was strange as I charge overnight, when I tried to turn it on I couldn't and I had to remove the battery before it would turn on. Unfortunately though now it wont past the initial boot screen (which shows the Galaxy logo).

My phone also won't go into recovery or download modes on boot up using the power+home+volume technique and Kies won't acknowledge that my phone is plugged in to the PC.

Other than the Galaxy logo the only other thing the screen will display is the battery charging when it is plugged in.

My phone is not rooted and Ive never tried to root it, and it's running Jelly Bean.

I've accepted that I'm probably going to lose everything on the phone but is there anything I can do to get it working because I can't upgrade until December 😞

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Mate, I think it's kippered. You've done all you can do - there is something more serious going on here than a software crash. Never seen one like it before but I suggest you contact Samsung and get them to take a look at it http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/location/supportServiceLocation.do?page=SERVICE.LOCATION

Hold Vol Down + Home + Power (in that order) then press vol up. It should put the phone into Odin (download) mode, then follow this http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/HOW-TO-A-Guide-to-using-Odin/m-p/46346... Your data will be preserved.

Was your phone O2 branded and locked or was it unlocked and unbranded? ie when it boots up does it have the O2 splash screen on it?

Thanks for that,

I've followed the steps in that guide but I'm now stuck with Odin it says:

<ID:0/003> Added!!

<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..

<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..

<OSM> Please wait..

<OSM> I9100XWLSD_I9100XXLS8_I9100O2ULS7_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.

<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..

<OSM> Leave CS..

Been on that for a while now, how do I get past it?

Start over, it shouldn't fail. Make sure you are in download mode and make sure com box turns blue etc... Don't have Kies running at the same time.
