Dead Samsung galaxy sII

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello

I have bought a sgs2 about 10 months. The phone suddenly stopped working, I do not know what happened but I suspect the cpu has died because I cannot even turn it on. I hold the power button for 10 secs and nothing happens. And also when I plug it in to charge, it does not come up with the battery charging symbol. I have not bought any warranty for my phone, so I'm not sure if bringing it to an o2 shop could help me, as the phone is practically dead.

Any help would be appreciated

Go direct to Samsung. It matters not if it can be repaired as it is under warranty and should be replaced if repair is not possible.

This happened to me and one day I went to charge it and nothing.

I took it in, they tried a different battery. That seemed to work, but as the stores don't carry spares tho, so they sent it.off.

A few days later I got a.call..... ur fone is water damaged but.only in the battery compartment.. WTF.

fortunately due to a *** up from CS advisors, and wrong expectations. I emailed Ronan and was sent a new handset.

If u can get to cpw and get them to look at it (cpw is a repair center for.most fone makes).

S2's have a 24 month warranty so give Samsung a call. They may just swap it out.

I have gave it to my nearest official samsung repair point, after 3 weeks we got a call, they said that they cant fix it and the, I've read on many websites that the progress might take months which why I need help. Could I go to my nearest o2 shop and could they help me out with this? Or will they send it off to samsung?

Lurch... the contract (meaning who it was bought from) is with the company who sold u the handset even if.via a mobile contract.

Yes O2 will send it to Samsung. Have u had it back from the repair centre and do u have the repair report?

Of so and u got it from in-store? Then take it all to the store.

Of not in store, then I suggest u go via an online formal complaint and copy the report and include it with the email if possible (use a camera/fone)

Other then that I'm not sure. Plus ignorant u vis formal complaint they norm do a temp swap.

The exact same thing happened to my SG2 too. The only thing that came naturally to me was to try and charge it even though I knew it was fairly well charged up, but all i got was the battery icon plus a triangle with an exclamation mark. I'd only had the phone under two weeks so rang O2 who arranged for an immediate replacement new phone.

I later read that apparently this phone can be prone to this happening, but, as the O2 lad said you only hear when something goes wrong. I've also heard that water damage gets the blame even when that's not the problem.

So yes, try Samsung. To be honest though, I'd have thought Samsung would've tried to sort this out knowing there could be a problem.

The problem i have is totally different to yours, i have another android phone for rooting and testing purposes, which has done that to me many times because of bad updates/wrong updates/update that is not stable/software over all errors. But i believe, the broken sgs2's CPU is dead as i gave it to the nearest smasung reapair service around my area and after i got it back, he said that they could not fix it and that the cpu is probably dead. When i get time, i will give it to my nearest o2 shop since i still have warranty on it, and hopefully they could get it fixed or maybe give/lend me a replacment.
