Hi all,
Ive got a 5mth old HTC One. For no discernable reason, the other night it died and now it won't switch back on at all. I've tried all the usual tricks to get it running again - pressing and holding the power button and volume buttons and holding the stupid thing under a bright light while doing the thing with the buttons!
I'm resigned to having to send my phone off for repair or replacement now (yay! I get an old nokia to borrow!!) however I've got a lot of data which I really would like to recover if at all possible. Photos of the kids in disneyland, baby pics, pics of my dog who is no longer with us etc.
I know I'm a plank for not backing them up in the first place however hindsight is a wonderful thing. But, in my defence, I really did not expect a phone costing as much as this does crashing after a few months!
Does anyone know of any software I could try to retrieve the data? Or any reputable companies who may be able to help? I'm willing to pay to get the stuff back - one company wanted in excess of £300 (that was the starting figure - it went up from there!!) however I'm not made of money.
Any help would be gratefully received!!
Mandy xx

Have you looked in "My Computer" to see if it shows as a device?
Making that noise is promising.
Try holding power button with it connected to laptop.

No sign of it on the computer. Now I'm not even getting the windows ping when I plug it in or press the power button.
Its just as dead as a dodo, nothing, nada, zilch.

It was when it died. We've tried leaving it on charge overnight last night too but there was no sign of any power going into the phone - no lights on and the phone was stone cold whereas it would usually warm up a bit while plugged in.

Think I'm going to be steering clear of phones without some sort of SD card storage in it in the future. Don't think I can trust this phone again. Even if I did back up my phone on a regular basis I would still have lost the precious photos of my dog taken earlier this week.
Such a shame as I loved it.
