Data Speed on an eSIM

So I'm proudly showing my Pixel 9 Pro XL to a colleague who has just bought an OPPO X8.

Checking his data speed, he was hitting over 250Mbps on 5G, and there I am on my Pixel next to him, getting a measley 32 Mbps max, also showing on 5G.

He's on a physical SIM, I'm on an eSIM.

Any ideas why he's getting so much faster than me?

My data speeds vary from location to location obviously; the most I've had (at home right now) is 132 Mbps.

@PixelRosie

EE do but they also want another pound of flesh if you want to use 5G SA and only on 2 plans (All Rounder and Full Works) and now its only 3 Pixels all the 9 Series (no Fold) and for once Voda support more on a service than EE and o2...

The better thing to do is try and find a 5G SA connection, they are like unicorn poo slight_smile

Going on the fact that MVNO's have a lot of trouble with Pixel Devices even connecting to 5G its no surprise, that support is patchy...

Three are just useless TBH

To be frank data speed no longer concerns me. As long as I can do what I want to do in a given location that's fine.

I have an R15 SIM. I also have a Pixel 9 XL Pro and an S23 plus both SA enabled. But the nearest SA to me is EE

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Thank you all!

Well it does look like that it comes down to SA vs NSA. I'll be travelling for the next couple of months, so 'll need to stay on an eSim for now (which by the sounds of it doesn't yet support SA) - then consider a physical SIM and hope my Pixel 9P XL works with it even though none of the pixels are listed as SA compatible on O2's site!!

Thanks again.

@Mokookie

If I get to an O2 SA area, I'll let people know regarding the Pixel

I will test at the end of next week as going to put myself through the torture of a Switch Up, from Z Fold 6 to Pixel Fold 9 as miss the Pixel Fold... and Samsung is slow at getting Android 15 out to any of their handsets...

How is your fold? I assume no SA availability.

Its a Gen 2 Pixel Fold so the P9PF nPerf-3568433100755593-1.pngso has 5G SA, and I have been getting 5G SA coverage in Sheffield, and it now works with 5G and VoLTE on Spusu

Not really impressive figures. My local Vodafone LTE gives over 300 Mbs down and about the same as O2 SA up
