Spec = Quad Band: 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz; 3G: WCDMA 850/2100MHz.
Thanks for any help you can give coz I really want this phone to work!
Cheers,
Wayne.
First thing is to check you have the correct apn settings as shown here http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/o2-apn-settings#Android
The phone is capable of working with O2 3G so try the settings first and come back if they don't work (make sure you follow the settings accurately) and reboot after saving them.

When you insert the sim you should get the set up texts.
If not.....
Text ACTIVE to 2020 and save the settings and re boot.
Manual Apn are here http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/o2-apn-settings
A good self help guide http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/Connecting-Android-Phone-to-Data-Servi...
Ensure you have a tariff with data allowance in it.
On Payg you'll be charged £1 Web Daily if you don't. 😞
Ensure mobile data is turned on in the phones settings.

I would suggest following the advice given as this should help resolve your issue.
Also check your service status to ensure your local masts are fine.

Excellent! All works brilliant super groovy good.
Thanks to everyone for help and for warm welcome.
Whilst I'm here, are there such things as apps which improve the existing installed software? I'm thinking for example, of an anti camera shake feature to get less shakey pictures? (I don't have a very steady hand!)
Cheers,
Wayne.

To be honest there's lots of apps out there.
Some good and some not so good.
Look in the google play and read the reviews and check out reviews on YouTube etc.
Enjoy the journey.
