Can't send or receive text message

Wondering if anyone can help.

For the last few days I am unable to send or receive any text messages on my samsung mini 3 or 4 (not sure which one it is). I can make and receive calls without any problems and when I do make or receive calls, I have full signal bars.

However when the phone is on its home screen, I have no signal bars and if I try and send a text it just sits there saying sending but doesn't.

Thanks in advance for any surgestions.

Go into message settings and check the message centre number.

Try cleaning the sim card and switching the phone off and back on.
