I need to root and upload this phone to use as a scondary device.

Sony allow this but O2 blocked allowing a bootloader.

How do I undo this.

I have wasted hours on this only to discover it is down to O2

why would they restrict this on out of warranty phones.

If there is no solution I will never buy an O2 contract for work or home again.

Please help

Its not my current mobile but I only want to use it on a local wifi network but needs ANdroid 5.0+

Sorry @jonsie it's as you suspect, O2 won't allow the bootloader to be unlocked.

A more in-depth discussion is here:
https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android/Will-O2-unlock-bootloaders/td-p/760525/highlight/true

The general gist is though "O2 reserve the right to determine the software status of devices using its network"

@JerryMT

Bootloader unlocking especially for Sony Devices was only for certain releases within each Model Type., and the was hardlocked at o2's request.

They will not reverse this, and for a 7 year device they wont even try.

Best option buy a cheap £80 android device.
