4G Calling on S10+ or P30 Pro?

Hi all,

I am contemplating either an S10+ or P30 Pro, but I'm wondering if

  • The P30 Pro currently supports 4G Calling on O2? I realise the S10e/S10/S10+ are on the list of supported devices and the P30 Pro is not, so I presume not, but wanted to check; and
  • If the S10+ requires O2 firmware for to have working 4G Calling (it works on my S9+ with standard Samsung firmware).

Also,

  • If the P30 Pro does support 4G Calling, I presume that requires O2 firmware (as my wife's P20 does has the standard Huawei firmware and 4G Calling is not workign).

Hey all, some confirmations/updates:

  • The S10 supports Wifi Calling via both O2 & open market firmwares
  • P30 doesn't currently support Wifi Calling, but it is something we're working on with Huawei. We'll share more as/when there's progress and we're closer to launch
  • P20 is still in the works, though requires more work and testing. No ETA. We'll share more as/when there's progress and we're closer to launch

If it's not on the list it isn't supported.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Device support on mobile networks has to be tested before it goes live. Much like the network versions of software.

Other providers will be more open to supporting them and different handsets. It all depends on what 4g/ite standards are supported by the network and device capability.

Although having an s10 doesn't automatically qualify your device for 4g calling if it was bought from somewhere other than o2.

How long does it take to have this worked on with Huawei device?

There are no doubt countless people who are looking for this to work.

You add quickly from other manufacturers and even device from Doro.
Kindest Regards,
Andrew.

Every device and manufacturer is different, and the process can easier or more complex from device to device, so we can't compare the speed of one to the other I'm afraid. We know Wifi Calling is a functionality many customers use and some even rely on, and we're working as fast as possible, but the last thing we want to do is release a feature that's not fully tested or that we're happy with - it needs to provide a seemless, reliable and positive experience and once we're confident we've got that, we'll release it.
