Have you checked with your postcode here?

You will have breakdowns with masts whichever network you're on.

Surely you can get to a phone somewhere to report it?

I am Oliver Parsons, and I have a Nokia C5-00 mobile phone.  The display says that it is Offline.  How do I get out of Offline Mode?

I have gone to Settings – Profiles, where at the top of the menu there is a faint Offline then selected General – Activate and it says “Insert SIM Card”, which I have removed and replaced several times.  O2 have also sent me a new sim card that has the same result.

Oliver hi,

I had an E5-00, not the same I know, but very similar in the workings. It sounds like the problem lies in the handset I am afraid. Your handset seems to be setting itself 'Offline' because for some reason it cannot read or perhaps detect the SIM card is present.

Did it work at first with the original SIM card then stopped working?

Try:

  • press Menu
  • select Ctrl. panel
  • scroll to Profiles
  • select Online
  • Just changing profile to General may also be a solution.

All else fails try rebooting without the memory card then reinsert the card.
