4G Text Campaign

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey Guys,

Just to confirm that we’re contacting our customers who currently have 4G ready phones as we're giving them access to 4G for nothing!

All the details on this are here http://go.o2.co.uk/got4G

Only those who currently have a 4G phone but are on 3G plans can take advantage of this offer.

The messages you may receive about this will vary depending on whether you’re currently in an area that supports 4G or not. We’ll grant all customers who own a 4G ready phone access to this offer so you’re good and ready when 4G comes to your town.

We want as many people enjoying 4G as we can, at the moment our 4G could cover 17 million people in the UK!

This is part of our 2014 4G master plan, if you have any questions or thoughts- Let us know!

If you are one of the 600,000 customers who will enjoy free 4G, please do share some speed tests with the community too!

Thanks

Brad

Only just come across this.

Someone else in my house received the text tonight which will activated tomorrow, they are on a refresh pay monthly contract.

I am on a 18 month simplicity contract, should I receive the text as well?

We both use a Nokia Lumia 1020 with a 4g micro sim. Both contracts were bought directly from o2.

The text messages being sent are in a staggered format.

As long as you have a 4g handset and 4g sim card you should get the text.

4G working now slight_smile had to go out in the garden so it could have been working for hours! Must be right on the edge of coverage. Only getting 13mbps but will be using Wifi at home anyway - should get a better signal out and about, as most of my local area has coverage.

Wow, awesome speeds! I'm in the Wirral/Liverpool area, which seems to be pretty well covered, so I'll look forward to seeing what I get out and about tomorrow. Is there a list anywhere of when to expect 4G in other areas?

One handy link http://www.o2.co.uk/4g/coverage-and-cities

Not impressed at all! Two major Scottish cities & a few cities in the north & centre of Engliand.

That's it! So much for all the hype, this is what we lost o2 broadband for (one of the excuses given for selling o2 broadband to Sky).

Around Speke I get at least 18mbps but in L1 (with many users) it sadly drops...

Last time I checked it was below 1mbps but hopefully it will improve in time.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

ok I have had the text message to say they are giving me access to 4G at no extra cost from the 18 feb ie today. I have an s4 and a 4g sim card so do I just add it as a bolt on? Thing is on the bolt on page it says £5 or is that just waived ?
