cancel Google Play

I seem to have purchased Google play without realising it & would like to know how to cancel it so i dont get charged each month. 

could not find anything on website on how to do this could you help please.

You can't cancel Google Play. If you have bought something then you have to pay for it.

You can probably cancel the app or game you bought through the actual item itself. 

To prevent this in future call O2 and ask for a bar to charge to mobile put on your account

Google Play is the Google (Android) version of the Apple App store.
You can purchase things through it, or through apps you get from it, but you would not actually purchase the Play store...
