Switching to Sim Only deal - keeping number

My sons phone is due for update but he just wants a sim only deal - Uswitch offer an O2 deal better than the one on My O2 - so if i order from Uswitch do i need to do the whole PAC thing or is there an easier way to do this?

He just has to call O2 and ask them to migrate his number to the new contract

This will also end his present contract
