Transferring number to a current O2 account to a new one

Hi guys,

I have a query with regards to setting up a new account with O2, but holding onto the same number from a previous account where the contract has finished.

I have been on various contracts with O2 for the past 7-8 years, but the contracts and original account were set up through my mother's name as I was either in school or uni when I didn't have any proper income.

Now that I have a job, I was wondering if it is possible for me to be able to transfer the number from my mum's account to a new one set up in my own name, so that I don't have to keep transferring her money every month.

I noticed that there is a thing called a PAC code which can be used to hold onto the same number if someone is switching providers, but I didn't see anything about switching it over to a new account with the same provider (I'd like to stay with O2). The contract recently finished last month so this is why I thought it would be an ideal time to set up a new account in my own name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ryan

Hi, you need to obtain a new contract in your name and pass the credit checks etc, then your mother needs to call to migrate the old number to the new account. You both need to be on the call to do this and no PAC is required.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

PS. The old account will end as soon as the number is transferred and the final bill will be generated, so there will be one further bill on the old account to pay.

One quick question with regards to me setting up my new account and contract...

When I get a new contract, will I have a new number that will simply be replaced straight away once I make the call to O2 about transferring my old number, or how does it work?

Yes, your new contract will come with a new number which is replaced by your old one.
