I understand all the info on using my phone in Europe but it does not state if you still have to contact 02 to switch it onto your phone like you used to have to do or is it now automatic when you travel

Hi @AnonymousYou don't have to contact customer services at all. It should automatically select the correct network when you land and use it as if you were at home in the UK
Edited to add: I used to contact CS initially....to tick all the boxes. After 5 years of travel abroad though my phone has no problem.

It's all automatic and you don't need to do anything. If you haven't used O2 overseas before, you might want to check with customer service that roaming is enabled on your account by calling 202 or 4445.
If you have travelled before then no need.

Any eu travel is counted as home usage subject to the 4 month rule etc but no notification is required for eu roaming as it is “Roam like home”
