Hi

I got a text message late yesterday to say that my payment could not be processed. And to click on the link to avoid fees. The link then asks for all my details!

This didn't feel right as I didn't get an email to back it up so I didn't complete.

Can anyone help please.

@Barb1

It's a much reported scam that is going round and you should not click the links or enter any details.

Report the text to O2 https://www.o2.co.uk/help/safety-and-security/phishing-and-smishing-advice

Hi @Barb1

This is a scam. There have been many reports recently of customers receiving similar text messages.

O2 are looking into it. Do not open or click on any link and the best advice is on this safe link https://www.o2.co.uk/help/safety-and-security/phishing-and-smishing-advice

which includes the following advice from O2

Reporting a scam email, text or call

Some scams might pretend to be from O2, or from an organisation you already deal with. It's important that we see examples of phishing emails, texts and websites so we can investigate and shut down scammers. To report a suspicious text....

  • forward the text message, including phone number or company name, to 7726. It won’t cost you anything and it means we can investigate the sender.

Good luck @Barb1 and Welcome to the Community.

If you need any further help or advice please ask.

I hope you are enjoying the festive season and it has not been spoilt too much by the scam text, which is not from O2. Wave

@Barb1 As well as reporting the scam text, block the number and any other numbers that arrive with a similar text:
