I have been enquiring regarding a combined O2 Refresh/Pay Monthly Upgrade and was recommended by O2 to use the Live Chat feature. Whilst I understand the advantages of this service over perhaps waiting for an O2 operator to pick up the phone, I find the whole thing a little bit suspect. Maybe it's my personal paranoia over potential fraud online, but it seems that there is little guarantee that this service is direct from 02 and not either automatically generated or controlled by an alternate company. The phraseology used is quite odd, and there are spelling mistakes littering the responses I receive, and I just generally feel a little uncomfortable using the system (I provided the two requested letters for my secret question answer and immediately regretted the decision!)
Can anyone clear up if this is just me being a little too cautious, or if anyone has had the same experience/opinion? It just seems a little 'unfriendly' to me...

Hi,
Live Chat is manned by Non Uk Outsourced Call-Centres who will have undergone security checks, and training, so yes I believe its safe to speak to them.
However I would suggest that upgrading through 202 from an o2 powered phone, From a landline 0844 809 0202 5p / min, or visiting a shop would be a better choice.
Live chat are fine for low level general enquiries.
