Leaving the country

I will be leaving the country to go and work abroad for 12 months. I still have approximatley 12 months remaining on my iPhone contract and wondered whether I could freeze my contract as I will not be taking this handset with me.

I have tried to ring o2 customer services but I've been on hold for almost an hour now.....!

Afraid not, O2 will only allow this for members of the armed forces in an active war zone.

See if you can reduce the monthly costs by removing any unrequired additional services or see if they'll reduce the Monthly subs charges. Have a feeling you might be able to lower the tariff after xx number of months...

Failing that you moght be able to transfer the ownership into someone elses name, they'll probablyu require a creidt check. Not sure what the process for this is or whether its stillo avauilable nowadays though.
