Do 02 send out welcome letters when taking upgrade out ? I've been with them some time but can't remember if they do I only wanted things via email

I get a text and email when upgrading, so it should be the same for you.
Edited to add, you won't get a welcome letter via the post..

The credit agreement is a legal document @Kath2013
It has to be posted to you by law so you have a copy of it.

That email is repeated in a text.

Yes, @MI5 and I are talking about 2 different things really.
I am telling you what happens with a sim only contract when you upgrade.
@MI5 is advising you what will happen if you enter a contract with a new device.(The device IS a credit agreement)

This is the problem with multiple posts on the same subject....
@Kath2013 has stated in this thread https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly/Hi/m-p/1461290#M229362 that a new device was taken as part of the upgrade.
