Clearing device plan

I am really annoyed with O2.  My phone is due for upgrade and I am changing provider.  I requested the PAC to keep my number by text and had to ring O2 for it.  I was informed I still owe money on my phone but I informed them that I checked my O2 account after DD came out on 18th to sort any balance and when I clicked  on my payment plan last night it stated no further device payments needed. I take that means balance is clear.

Talking to O2 payments department on the phone they say I do have a balance.

Who is right,  as I refuse to pay when I possibly don't need to.

@HC1

If your device plan is clear you can leave without paying anything else.

Payments received can take up to 48 hours to clear through the system, so if you've just paid, the system should update early next week (taking the weekend in to account).

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
