I would like to change the name of my bank account please?

Log into your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2 go to "Bills" then "Manage my details".
You need to set up a pin code to access that section the first time.

View your latest bill in my O2 and then click on change payment details to the right. You will need  to set up a 4 digit pin if this is the first time you access it. Have your phone handy.

I want to change my payment details but when i enter them on My02 i get an error message. This might be because my old account doesn't include the initial of my second name but my new one does. Cant get through on the phone so do i just cancel the direct debit and wait for you to contact me?

You need to keep trying O2.
