I was wondering if I can pay out the remainder of my airtime contract [effectively so I can leave O2] but keep my phone plan running so that I can still spread the cost of the phone plan?

Well if can pay of airtime to end of contract can you not afford the full cost of device plan settlement. If so do that then you dont need to pay of the airtime.

The point is I don't want to pay for obth upfront at the moment but I want to leave O2 for a better deal elsehwere.
Why would you assume I can afford to pay of one half and therefore I can afford to pay off the other half?

Hang on - are you saying If I pay the device plan in full I am no longer tied to an air time contract?

it was a open question, instead of paying both airtime and device the best way would be pay off device then not liable to pay airtime to end of contract.
If you pay of airtime then you still have to pay of the device meaning you be out of pocket.
I did not assume anything.

But surely there is a contract period on the airtime? Wouldn't I have to see this out as well?
