Is it possible to only allow certain numbers to be called (texted) by my child. I want to provide a phone to my child, but am concerned about him 'racking' up unnecessary call charges by calling numbers that we do not approve of. Ideally we would wish to limit his calling options to just family for both voice and text calls.
This seems to me to be a sensible request, but one I can find no answers for on any providers site.

O2 can put a premium rate bar on for you, and the age verification should stop them accessing dodgy web sites.

Thanks for that 'Perksie'.
However it is a more 'restrictive' action I am after. We really only want access to a specific list of numbers (immediate family). This sounds draconian, but he is barely 10 and still not fully aware of time spent doing things, like most kids are (and always will be). We don't want him racking up excessive minutes talking to mates that live just around the corner, or he has just spent the day with at school.

If you were getting an Android phone you could install an app similar to the one here which should do what you need:

Some others are looked at here:

Again thanks ...... we have the phone a Samsung GT-S3350. However, I'll check out the link/app if it works we may consider an alternate phone. Although obviously I would prefer it were 'locked down' at the SIM level ....... a much simpler, and more secure method.
