Buying the US variant of the Samsung Galazy s7 for use in the UK

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi guys,

As the titles states, I'm looking to buy the US variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7. This is because only the US variant has the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC which is easier to develop roms for. The UK version has the exynos which is closed source and receives hardly any development.

If I were to buy the US version, would it work here in the UK with a uk o2 sim card?

Thanks

Verizon and Sprint phones will not work in the UK.

@Anonymous Please heed my previous post. If you buy a phone in the US and bring it back here and it breaks, you will NOT get it fixed under warranty by Samsung.

As far as I can see there is only a "Global" spec and a "South East Asia" spec so the Global one should be fine as long as it's GSM.

If i am going to buy it in the US, which bands & frequencies should I be looking to match to ensure i get the same 2g/3g/4g coverage?

Isn't that how verizon and sprint get some special models of phones @Bambino, because their signals are unique, the global phones don't work?
I know they've had some Xperia models with different specs due to being the "verizon version"

viridis - all the us sites are listing theirs as the snapdragon. I'm pretty sure the EU will get the exynos.

bambino - That's fine, I think my phone insurance will cover me

@viridis Verizon phones don't even have sim cards. They are made specifically for Verizon by the manufacturers.
