HI, found out it was indeed the serial number (Doh). What I received was a blank sim to match to my existing phone, thats why there was no new number on card. Gave up trying to navigate the O2 phone system and contacted the nearest O2 shop. Getting new sim from them. Thanks to all who replied.

Yes, absolutely no need for another sim to be sent @Anonymous. You could do this now....
