Hello

I have an old (1993?) nokia mobile on a PAYGO package.

If I buy a replacement phone, can I reuse the existing SIM in it and stay on the same package?

Cheers

Dave

Hi @deejay

Have a look at the Nokia 105 in Argos.  Only £17.99 and Unlocked to any network.

Nokia 105 Argos

It takes a micro or nano sim.

In fact Argos do have a number of inexpensive Nokia phones which appear to be in stock.

Yes you can

Just use your current sim though it will probably be a different size.

See if you have a sim that presses out or alternatively get the correct size sim from an O2 store

They will swap the tariff and credit over for you @deejay

Thanks Jonsie

It is very old, so probably pre-dates the press-out SIMs.

Does the new phone need to be specific to O2?

Cheers

Hi @deejay

Most of the replacement Sims from o2 are now half credit card size, so you may struggle

Also to add the chip has always stayed in the same place.

What device is it btw?
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Morning and thanks for the reply

I just had a look at the SIM in my Nokia 1100 . Still has the original battery.

It looks to me like a 'standard' 21 x 15 mm card.

The reason for my question is that I want to keep a simple phone, i.e. not a smart one, for use as a contact point on the web. The keypad is beginning to feel a bit dodgy, so I'm looking for a straight simple replacement.

Cheers

Thanks for that Cleoriff. Looks like the nokia you mention only takes mini or nano SIMs. The ideal solution would be an unrestricted simple mobile that takes an old 'standard' SIM. I'll do some research.

Cheers

Hello Cleoriff

From the Nokia support site for their 105 ...

'Important: This device is designed to be used with a mini SIM card (see figure) only. Use of incompatible SIM cards may damage the card or the device, and may corrupt data stored on the card.'

Searching for SIM sizes shows the Mini as 25 x 15 so it looks as if it will physically fit.

I've asked Nokia support if the card will work in a 105 phone and I'm waiting for a reply

Cheers

You will be fine with that as the 105 takes a standard sim card same as the type you are using now @deejay
