Mobile data - 4g not working

So I have a pay as you go sim only plan where it states that I should get 4g though it always uses 3G even though I’ve set my phone setting to use 4g. This has happened to me on two phones ( my old iPhone 8 and now my new iPhone 11) so I know it’s not a problem with the phone. Somebody help me with this plz?

Assuming you have done a sim swap to get a new sim?

If so, You need to contact O2 to ensure 4g is enabled on your account.
All numbers are in this guide Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support 
When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling.
Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
You can also try saying "Upgrade" or "Fraud" to be connected to an advisor.
8.00am is the best time to call if you can.
