Error code with Call Diverts on Android

Hello, I have an Android 14 smartphone, and recently was sent a new replacement SIM card from O2.

However, when I go into the Phone app, tap Settings, Calling accounts, and Call Forwarding it shows a message box that says 'Call Settings error Network or SIM card error' and the Call Diverts are switched off and grayed out. When I go into 'additional settings' Caller ID is also greyed out. Because of this I can't alter the length of time the phone rings for Voicemail to 30 seconds - when I type in the code **61*901*11*30# to change the length I get the same message.

I rang O2 Customer Services but they said there was nothing wrong with the SIM card and I needed to take my phone to an O2 shop. It's a new HMD Pulse, I only bought it last November.

@MI5 in previous threads on the same subject suggested that WiFi calling needs to be switched off. How do I do that? If I call Customer Services will they switch it off for me? Is that the reason I have this problem?

If so, should I ring them back and ask them to switch off WiFi calling?

These things are sent to try us! 😄

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. But I've had no luck I'm afraid. The error message stubbornly persists every time I go into Call Diverts on my Android phone. I'm going to have to leave it. Voicemail works o.k otherwise, but I'm just unable to change the length to 30 seconds. The code I type that was in your guide also gives the same message.

@Oxonian You are right about the MyO2 accounts - there isn't as many options on PAYG accounts compared to contracts. I didn't even know it was possible to change the Diverts via the MyO2 account until you showed me. Lucky for some!

The only decent option on my MyO2 account that was useful was the SIM swap option and even that doesn't work now! Mum got a new 4G phone with a new nano SIM with 3G being switched off this year and I wanted to do the swap via my MyO2 account but it didn't work - so I called Customer Services instead. I find the staff on the phone very hard to understand, but I don't mean to be xenophobic. It used to be better when you rang and I could understand them better.

I suppose cutting back on options for PAYG is to do with all this cost saving. @MI5 may be right when he told me in an earlier post that PAYG is on the way out.  None of the options work anymore! 😄

@koala321

There was an update to My O2 today

Has it made any changes to the functionality for PAYG?
