I’m trying to change my second phone from Pay&Go to £5 Big Bundle but the confirm button at the end of the process remains greyed out. Any ideas why?

5g, wifi calling etc runs on EE
So that’s all EE would charge for PAYG?!

1pMobile is known as a MVNO (mobile virtual network operator).
They are independent but use the EE network in the same way that Tesco uses the O2 network as an example.
Costs are different to EE though so no, you can't get the same rates directly with EE.

So, if they use the EE Network, do you think they might still be an option? I think I might try to find out more about this.

Absolutely yes @almaca60

Strangely, they say I’ll get a good 4g connection on my iPhone (5g not yet available here), yet not even 2g with a basic Nokia. I wonder why not as we’ve been using older basic phones on O2 since the outset. EE don’t provide PAYG here so do you think that’s why 1pMobile can’t either?

I'm not following you, sorry.
1pMobile is PAYG. You said earlier that EE worked in your area, so 1pMobile will too as it runs on EE network.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that EE is only available to those who take a contract. Since the phone concerned is an older basic one, it wouldn’t be worth paying for data that couldn’t be used. My husband rarely uses his phone as it is so there’s no point in having a contract. Even with the dearer cost of calls, his £10 still lasts him at least 6 months, by which time they’ve deactivated his SIM. I’ll be trying to get him to use his mobile now instead of the landline so he would use up a £5 monthly contract, especially since we will lose our landline when BT soon stop analogue phones, instead requiring customers to have that service directed through their landline internet connection, something we can’t get due to our remote location.

1pMobile offer various different packages all of which are PAYG.
For low users the £30 a year package is very good value and the credit is only used when you make a call or send a text. If no data is used, no credit is used.

£30 is good value if I can get him to actually use his phone more. I see you have to top up at least £10 every four months, regardless of whether or not you’ve used up your balance. Since he’s used only £5 in the last eleven months, despite much higher call cost, £10 here would last him for the rest of his life! 😄
I also asked locally if anyone else used 1pMobile. Someone said they’d tried but it hadn’t worked well as EE don’t allow piggyback suppliers full bandwidth, especially in rural areas, yet another person said they’d used it on an old phone last year and it had been fine, so I don’t know. I was also told about Tesco Mobile who use the O2 network.
I guess I’m going to have to have a serious look at the few options to see which one best meets our needs, and will also likely replace the refurbished Nokia with something better as it’s not good, unlike the even older Nokia I used for years.

If you choose the £30 a year tariff that's it for a year. No requirement to top up every 4 months.
