Last month I started a topic titled "Why is 5G not available on PAYG?"
Unfortunately, the forum trolls and know alls hi-jacked it, and it was locked.
Today, 1st July, I noticed that my phone is now showing that I'm getting 5G on my PAYG phone.
I've opened this thread to inform anyone who is interested, that 5G is now available on PAYG.
Best wishes.

I never even get 4G, even though it is a 4G SIM.
I'm hoping that whatever they are doing will reprovision my current SIM, otherwise I'll have to try swapping to a new SIM.

"To use 5G Standalone, you need a 5G compatible device and a 5G R15 SIM card from O2,"
Many contract customers don't yet have these, so I assume for PAYG it will be the same.
I Add that many of the stores done seems to know about this for contract I can see confusion
My O2 Plastic SIM connects to 5G 700Mhz at home. My older giffgaff sim does not
I suspect it is the same @Enlli. On my PAYG Big Bundle, I can get 5G NSA. However, even though I know that the mast has 5G SA, I cannot access it. But my SIM was last changed pre-Covid so clearly is not a R15.
As 5G NSA is fast enough for my needs, I will delay in changing my SIM. Everything is working smoothly at the moment and I do not want to take the risk ! 👍

My S24 Ultra has been getting 5G. Presume it is standalone as it is constant 5G where ever I am going.

It will be NSA more than likely, as 5G SA is not available everywhere, and unless you have a R15 Sim you wont be provisioned for 5G SA

Do you know perchance whether R15 SIMs are available on PAYG or is that a question for O2 ?

@Oxonian Question for O2.
Other networks seem to be limiting access to SA for all but contact customers.
I have Vodafone SA here but it does not appear on Voxi even with the latest eSIM
Seems the same with EE and it's PAYG and MNVO's

You may be correct.
I live in Bucks, and I was getting constant 5G, hence I presumed 5G SA.
Only now have I started to get 4G.
A bit of a shame really, The speeds on 5G NSA are still way faster than my Pay Monthly Vodafone sim.

Speed numbers are limited to a location and vary wildly. At home O2 5G (700 SA) is considerably slower then O2 4G (2100). Vodafone 4G well out performs both.
However, I know places where the situation is reversed.
