I have a client that uses mobile broadband for their business (they are in a place where fixed line is not possible).
They require port forwarding to be set up because they want a remotely monitorable camera system.
Just wondering whether this is possible/supported with o2 mobile broadband?
Thanks in advance.

I dont know, but its probably port 80 I guess.
Hmm, didnt think of the VPN option - so have a VPN server on site, then connect to that from the remote PC, then could just bring the camera unit local IP up in the browser?
Would that work?
And would it work without interfering too much with the host PC?

No its probably dynamic, didnt know you could get static ips on mobile broadband?
Planning to use no-ip though.
The cameras might have software, to be honest I havent looked at the system yet, just looking into the possibilities before-hand.

I guess the distance is 5 miles or so. I think VPN is the way I will go, that sounds like a reasonable idea.
I will go and investigate the machines at both sites and then post back here.
Thanks a lot for the help.

No worries:)
I'm happy to help more if needed:)
seeing as its only 5 miles gap yyou could in theory use your own antenna. You'd have to speak to the local council about planning permission And regs in the area. But for around £250 you could buy two routers and two antenna For transmission. (obviously extra money from call outs to fix antenna when they get blown out of alignment :D)
