Help - I can't unlock my phone to use another sim card

Hi everyone,

I bought my Samsung Galaxy S2 more than a year ago together with a pay&go sim card. I recently tried to unlock my phone with the unlatching code I received after filling out the necessery form.

My probleme is: It simply does not work. I inserted the non-o2 uk sim and tried to enter the code, but I always receive a fault message saying that there occured a probleme during the unlocking process.

I already conctacted the o2 uk customer service several times, also the Samsung customer service in england and germany (since I moved to germany). But it just seems like no one knows what the problem is. They basically just send me around in circles, hoping that someone else takes care of the probleme.

So please, does anyone know what to do (except buying a new phone...)?

Thanks,

Jan

Is their a stand alone shop or market stall type shop that can carry out the unlock for you ?

Try doing a factory reset on the phone and attempt to unlock it again - What exactly is the error message you get?

I'm not too sure. Probably. I wanted to take a look if there might be another way since I'd lose my warranty (do you call it warranty? I am not english) if something goes wrong.

Thanks, I might try that.
The message is roughly translated: "There occured an error during the unlocking process"

(My phone settings are in german)

Warranty is for 2 years so you may be out of warranty already, but normally unlocking does not effect the warranty in any way.
It's not clear from the error message if it's the wrong unlock code or something else so try the factory reset first and let us know....

I'm not, I bought it roughly 13 month ago, but I don't think I'll really have another choice.

I did reset it, but nothing changed.

Are you sure you have provided O2 with the correct IMEI number?
It does happen that the wrong unlock code is either generated or given out but not very often.
I'd get back onto CS and ask for this to be escalated first before going down any other backstreet options....

In the Uk stand alone shops and flea market traders unlock most phones for a small fee.

I'm sure theirs the same similar shops in Germany.

As I've said earlier possibly this is another avenue of choice.

I've already talked to cs several times. They all checked my IMEI number, checked my unlocking code and said that everything should be alright. After that they told me to talk to the samsung cs. They on the other side are saying that o2 is responsible for their lock and that samsung can't do a thing...
