Just take your passport and maybe a driving licence with you as proof of age and they will be able to get it removed for you.

It maybe stupid in your eyes but you can see why o2 impose this rule on internet access especially with younger users

Parents buy contracts for their children too.
Just because the contract owner is over 18 doesn't necessarily mean that is the main user.

Agreed @MI5 but you can see my concern when age verification comes into play

Indeed yes.
It's a necessary inconvenience.

The good thing about it is that all networks have to adhere to the rules concerning age restriction but maybe this should be pointed out when signing up for a contract and at that point being given the option to opt out. Obviously responsible parents would be able to protect their children the same.

To my mind it would save a lot of frustration and anger for customers. After all, when you change tariff the adviser has to read out lots of terms and conditions so it could easily be part of those legalities. Similarly, if taking out a contract online, it would be easy enough to have a tick box to opt in or out which must be completed before proceeding further.

Or it could just be the morphine kicking in causing a tendency to waffle on! 😳😉
