Nokia - Windows Phone 7.8 *RELEASED*

Hey Guys,

Got some great news for all you Nokia fans out there! You all will be delighted to know that we’re currently testing and working closely with Nokia UK to unveil the Windows Phone 7.8 software update for Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 soon to ensure it delivers a superb user experience.

Once we have a green light for the roll-out, we’ll update this post and O2 customers will be available to download the update via Zune. Exciting times, right?! Meanwhile, I’m curious to know which particular feature from the latest version (7.8) are you guys waiting for?

Update 31/01/2013: WP 7.8 is live for Lumia 610, 710, 800, and 900 and WP 8 PR 1.1 for Lumia 820 (OTA).

What does the update include? For Lumia 610, 710 & 800 devices, it includes:

• New features to the Start Screen, new colors and lock screen improvements.
• WP 7.8 OS includes enablers for new apps such as Bluetooth Share and Ringtone Maker.

For Lumia 820 devices, improvements include:

• Increasing device performance
• Browser enhancements and new ringtone capability.
• Improvements to the general functionality of the phone including NFC pairing, battery monitor performance and bluetooth connectivity.

My wife's  got the lumia 800 and still doesn't have the update showing! It's a pay monthly one thought it would be out now for her.

Where is the update peeps........tired of waiting.....why is O2 always last at releasing firmware updates?

PS Still waiting for the FP1 update on the Nokia belle for my Nokia 700 second phone......now that was available in April of last year in the UK........What is the problem O2?

Microsoft is, as far as I'm aware, is releasing the update in batches.....so it's not down to 02.

but....you can force the update using the Zune Software, read the last few posts of how to do this.

This definitely works! you just need to get the timing right*

1. plug the phone in and start the Zune software

2. check for updates

3. turn off wifi (2 seconds for me)*

4. you will get 'an update is found' message*

5. turn wifi back on / download

there are 3 updates, one from Nokia, and two from Microsoft

So you have to do this method 3 times for the updates.

(took me a dozen attempts)

Frankly, I was a bit underwhelmed  - basically it's just the new full tile start screen..

and I think the max volume is not as high as before

@brandythecat I notice the volume wasn't as high after updating to 7.8,I have to turn my volume right up and when i turn off my phone it reset back 13

Hey Russ, mine is the same (Nokia Lumia 800)

I wonder if it was the Nokia update that re-configured the volume....?

I remember seeing a message on the phone, warning me of the dangers of loud music

had to laugh, that's just a little too late for me I'm afraid!

I have a Nokia Lumia 800 on PAYG.  Any ideas on when I will get access to this upgrade.  I live in the UK, Newcastle Upon Tyne.  I keep checking though nothing showing.  Or do those on PAYG wait on the bottom of the list! or not even get this free upgrade provided by Nokia and Microsoft?

have you tried to force update your lumia 800? I have the same handset as you and got mine to update using the force update method. Instructions are a couple of pages back, hope it helps.
