I think maths is one of those subject which is either easy or extremely difficult. I remember when I was at grammar school we had a kid in our class who was an absolute genius in history and geography and could cite all the kings and queen of England and the capitals of the countries of the world but couldn`t do simple [?] arithmetic. Me? I loved maths and could do algebra [you, know a + b + c = 88 etc] in my head without pages of working out much to my teacher`s annoyance.

I can do all sorts of maths and always came top in mental arithmetic. However in the 50's and in secondary modern schools, the most we were taught was fractions. When I was a cadet we were taught medical maths and that was fine. Never had a problem setting up an IV infusion and working out how much over hour each patient should have.

Thank you @TheresaV
Well done on your three stars. Good luck in attempting to "overtake" @LukasB in Monday`s or Wed`s Quiz. Sounds like it`s gonna be like the competition between @LukasB and @Marjo in the past but, pleased you both enjoy the quizzes.

Talking about your maths @Mi-Amigo , it sounds the same as Ben. He was once marked wrong on a maths question as the teacher did not agree with the way he worked it out (all shown on the paper he submitted) He disagreed with this on the premis the answer was correct, therefore how he worked it out was irrelevant. It caused a big furore at school and headmaster called in. Ben and his mum were adamant that there was more than 1 way to work out an answer. The head agreed.
The head then asked Ben jokingly if he would like to undertake a maths quiz with the school accountant. (He wanted to test Bens maths skills.)
Ben agreed. The test took place at lunchtime and they both had 30 minutes to complete the test. Ben finished in 15 minutes. The accountant took 30. Bens were all correct and the accountant got one wrong.
When they compared how they had worked out the answers, the accountant could not understand the 'equations' Ben had used.
