THE ANSWERS

Please note -

Q7 SPORT - Which of these three football teams has never won the FA Cup

                    - Leicester City; Sheffield Wednesday; Southampton ?

was based on question in online quiz dated 2020, which gave Leicester City as the answer. But after some pms from quizzers received, I found Leicester City won the FA Cup in 2021, so none of the three answers is correct. Therefore I have declared this questio nul and void and won`t count in scores.

Q1 HISTORY - Which of these three Kings of England reigned the longest

                        - Edward I; Edward II; Edward III ?

A1   Edward III

Q2 PLACES - Which of these three towns is in the county of Gloucestershire

                       - Burnham on Crouch; Moreton in Marsh; Walton on the Naze ?

A2    Moreton in Marsh

Q3 NATURE - Which of these three creatures is a type of fish

                       - fennec;  markhor; parr ?

A3   parr

Q4 LITERATURE - Which of these three Enid Blyton "Famous Five" books was published first

                              - Five Go Off To Camp; Five Go Off In A Caravan; Five Go Down To The Sea ?

A4   Five Go Off In A Caravan

Q5 MUSIC - Which of these three bands had a UK Top Ten hit with "Queen Of My Heart" in 2001

                    - Boyzone; Take That; Westlife ?

A5  Westlife

Q6 TV - Which of these three characters appeared in TV sit-com "Dad`s Army"

              - Timothy Farthing; Terry Hughes; Owen Newitt ?

A6   Timothy Farthing - the vicar

Q8 FOOD & DRINK - Which of these three fruits is a type of peach

                                    - Angelus;  Anjou; Avalon ?

A8  Angelus. Four quizzers gave the answer Avalon. As Avalon Pride is a type of peach I will also accept it as

      a correct answer

Thank you everyone who took part with this White Room Quiz and I hope you, and our regular quizzers, and anyone else, will join in today`s White Room Quizzes.

In the circumstances, the planned One Right, Two Wrong Quiz for today`s WRQ has been dropped. Instead it will be a normal WRQ of 8 questions - with two questions on each of these four categories

GEOGRAPHY; SPACE; WORDS; MOVIES

and will be posted on a separate thread shortly.

Thank you everyone for taking part and making the WRQ fun.
