Hey guys,

WWE Raw is on at the O2 tonight and although I don't follow wrestling much anymore got me thinking about when I was a bit fan a a kid. For me my all time favourite wrestler was The Undertaker. The way he would rise out of a coffin to attack his opponents was one of the most exciting things on TV for a young wrestling fan!

A few others that stick out in my memories are The Road Warriors who used to ware the spiky pink armor but still managed to look mean as hell. There was the British Bulldog who being pretty much the only pro wrestler at the time always kept me glued to the TV. Finally Rowdy Roddy Piper who went on to star in tons of TV and film roles. The one that sticks out is They Live which included a ridiculously long fight scene over a pair of sun glasses! Smiley Very Happy

Is anyone a fan of wrestling (past tense or present) and if so who is your all time favourite wrestler?

Passionate or not, it's purely theatre and nothing to do with sport in any way shape or form. I fear for the masses that take this seriously and try to justify this as anything but stage managed farce. Big girls making idiots of gullible people who really should know better.

Are the results predetermined? Yes. But I wouldn't call it fake, more like sports entertainment.

Just don't tell the kids 😉

I think we have enough deception in the true sporting world which governing bodies attempt to eradicate.

WWE needs to identify itself solely with scripted entertainment rather than unpredicted, competitive sport.

Of course it's fake. There's no denying that they're physically fit, but they practice their moves. In other words, they rehearse, and it's predetermined who's going to win. That's not sport.

I find it ncomprehensible and rather pathetic that they pedal this as 'sport' and to be honest it's nothing more than than a comedy show.

How can you have a predetermined "champion" who then makes a statement regarding the term fake and when quoted is referred to as "former wwe champion" as if that title is held in a higher regard than "former wwe superstar"?
That in itself is faking authority surely?

Guys,

This thread was just a bit of fun for those who may have been interested. I'm however closing it now, as the tone has become very negative and any fans would probably not want to contribute now. We must be welcoming to all kinds of hobbies, interests and fans here on the community. Please keep this in mind when you're thinking of contributing to community discussions.
