Hantavirus (can be contracted from infected dried mouse urine or mouse faeces: in New Mexico, deer mice are common carriers of the virus) is likely to be what caused the death of Betsy Hackman after about 6 days of flu-like symptoms, terminating in shortness of breath, and death, on 11-Feb-2025. This was followed about a week later by the death of Gene Hackman through complications from a poor heart and heart disease and Alzheimer's.
Update being given on Sky News at this time, sounds like a very unfortunate series of events. Sad news.

How terrible that Gene Hackman was probably unaware his wife was dead at least a week before he died. 😢
