"Surgeons in Oxford have used a gene therapy technique to improve the vision of
six patients who would otherwise have gone blind."
This is a huge leap forward in medicine and in time it could cure common forms of blindness.
Some people may not think that this is important, but for people who are partially sighted or who are blind, it's a lifeline.
Obviously it is in its early stages and only a few patients have had this procedure, but fingers crossed it will be a success and one day we will live in a world were blindness is a curable condition!

Blind from birth people gaining partial/fullsight is an interesting and complex area. It's good that people who have eye sight issues will be getting more medical options in the future.

Obviously it won't be an option for some people, it just depends what the problem is that is causing the blindness. You never know though - advances could be made to cure all blindness and other illnesses - one can hope
