THE ANSWERS
Q1 Brothers Alex and Billy take turns to drive their car on their day out.
Leaving their home, Alex drove first 90 miles, then Billy drove the rest of the way to their destination.
On the way back home, Alex again drove first, then Billy took over and drove the remaining 100 miles.
Who drove the furthest - Alex or Billy ?
A1 Billy.
If total distance is called T, then on leaving home Alex drove 90 miles, Billy drove T - 90.
on way back home, Alex drove T - 100, as Billy drove 100.
In total, Alex drove 90 + T - 100 = T - 10.
Billy drove T - 90 + 100 = T + 20.

DISALLOW 4th 4th from last

Q6 A man is on one side of a river and his dog is on the other side of the river. The man calls the dog and
the dog crosses the river to the man`s side. The dog doesn`t get wet, doesn`t use a bridge, and doesn`t
take a ride on a boat.
How did the dog reach the man ?
A6 River was frozen and dog walked across.
Some gave answer - river was narrow, dog jumped across; or river had dried out and dog walked across;
which I`ll also accept as correct.
Q7 Using only addition [ + ], make an equation of eight 8s so it equals [ = ] 1000
A7 888 + 88 + 8 + 8 + = 1000
Q8 If B = 5; C = 6; F = 9

B = 5' C = 6, D = 7; E = 8; F = 9; G = 10; H = 11.
Q9 Which fruit is 20% mango; 20% peach; 20% grape; 20% melon; and 20% lemon ?
A9 APPLE.
20% of MANGO = A; 20% of PEACH = P; 20% of GRAPE = P; 20% of MELON = L; 20% of LEMON = E.
Q10 The police receive an anonymous phone call.
The caller says a murder has been committed; and says the murderer`s name is "Jack".
The caller says "Jack" has fled the crime scene to another house and gives the address.
The police drive to the address given by the caller and enter the house where they find four people
- a carpenter; a lorry driver; a fireman; and a mechanic playing poker.
Without asking any of the four poker-players their name, the police arrest the fireman on suspicion
of being the murderer.
How did the police know the fireman was the suspect ?
A10. Fireman was the only man, the other three were women.
Some gave answer - fireman was wearing a badge. Sorry can`t accept. Unlikely fireman was wearing
uniform with is badge after muder and playing poker. Even if he was, badge would more likely have
his surname rather than "Jack" on it.
Sorry for ayone disappointed but it is a brain teaser after all 😀 and I tried to be fair with Q6.
