O2 Community v Facebook

Time for a debate people.

My question is this. Should threads on o2 Community have a reasonable connection to o2?

There has been another batch of Facebook style threads start recently. Is o2 Community the right place?

Hi @blissgirl ...just to help (in case you weren't aware.) Once you log into forum on the top right hand side of the page is a sentence saying Unread Posts (that means those posts you may not have read....If you click on that it will open up  a real list of anything you may or may not want to contribute or post about...:smileywink:

@blissgirl including a perennial amount of Facebook style posts that are nothing to do with o2, phones, tech etc. So if you are looking to assist others or be assisted in technical queries you may need to scroll down a bit I'm afraid.

Perhaps one day we can have a setting to remove this rubbish eh?

I ask only that we leave the BBC news where it belongs rather than rehashing it here just for the sake of upping post count.

So isn't that what is happening here? Posting threads that have nothing to do with o2, mobile phones, technology?

Quite frankly they are boring. This isn't the place. Take it to social media or provide us with the tools to ignore them.

"there's mostly novice people wanting to chat to other members and have some kind of input vs the people who think that they own the site and want everything their way."

How different is repetitive posting of social media style threads against many people's wishes any different to "vs the people who think they own the site and want everything their own way".

Is this not a classic example of one member trying to force their opinion on everyone else regardless as to whether they want same? Is it fair to say the actions of a tiny minority posting social media threads is effectively the same as wanting everything their own way and this being perceived as trying to own the site?

Personally, I think this Community should only be for O2 related stuff.

I've got this thing here that gets me on the internet, and if I want to look at other subjects, I'll use it to search for things that are relevant to my interests!

Seen a few threads where some have gone way off topic and become uninteresting to follow.

Well @Anonymous it appears you and almost everyone else thinks the same.

There should be less social media (leave that to the Virtual Lounge and Wanty's - both of which are approved by site management) or even better none.

Perhaps those that post social media style threads would do well to listen to the vast majority who have responded and curtail their inappropriate posts?

Perhaps site management will also take this on board @Toby

You know my stance. Agreement with 99%....

I still stand by my desire to post medical related news/innovations. As those sort of posts always seem to provoke interest and questions I would hope it remains OK to continue posting these. My theory is ...it will affect most of us .....or our families at some time or another.

If the majority vote no....I will stop posting. I may sulk a bit...but I would stop wink
