Day before Easter 🐣
Getting a cloth to cover the dining room table and feeling excited for all the lovely things to come on Easter day, everyone helped in getting the water colours ready assembled with paint brushes to paint funny faces on the dark brown chicken eggs. Fingers trying to hold the delicate egg whilst turning it round and round. Little fingers changing colour all the time. Then mother would gather them into an egg dish for tomorrow breakfast.
Easter day
Everyone up early to see the table very pretty and fully laid for breakfast. Intriguing boxes full of large chocolate eggs and boiled eggs with soldiers
After breakfast everyone opened the chocolate egg boxes and enjoyed crushing and breaking with a snap those hollow eggs.
After this excitement we girls had special presents of pretty Easter bonnets.
Trying them on excitedly and dancing about in them - then
Dad would gather us all with the dog for a walk in the nearby Bluebell wood
Not forgetting to take our chocolate off we would go.
Playing tag and losing our bonnets quite often after a long walk we'd be ready to go home, bonnets a little worse for wear.
Such a happy day with all the family, an ordinary day made special by kind and loving thoughts ❤️
LOVE TO HEAR YOUR MEMORIES TOO

As my late grandfather used to say @TallTrees, "a little of what you fancy does you good" ! 😀

In our old house when we're kids we used to have our Easter eggs up high on top of the curtains so we couldn't eat them all. Once we had gone to bed my parents used to help them selves to one of our Easter eggs I all ways wondered why we were all ways short

Glad you found it somewhere convenient, @TallTrees - Niederegger Marzipanbrot is a little too upmarket for Lidl or Aldi... They also make little packs of Marzipankartoffeln, little marzipan balls with a light dusting of cocoa: "marzipan potatoes":

So funny @Pipstop78
Must have looked very pretty up there !
Don't remember how my parents dealt with an over supply of chocolate 😄
No doubt extra chocolate eggs (from Grandparents etc. ) were hidden somewhere 😖 by the goblins and fairies for later.
When we were very young my mother loved putting little treats out saying the fairies had left them. 🧚 🧚 🧚 🧚
Wish they would come back.
Thank you for your childhood memory.

We don't buy Easter eggs for our grandchildren now @TallTrees
One is 25 (and in a very high position at Renault UK-) sorry, just needed to brag there 😂
Also, he discovered a love of Thorntons chocolate when he was about 15...so pffttt to an egg from them 🙄
As he says, this job is quite sedentary, so he visits the gym frequently.
The granddaughter is 13 and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year. Is on daily insulin for the rest of her life (bless her)...So chocolate is not on her list of diet must haves!
I tend to buy them a gift token instead. They are more appreciated. 😘
