Good morning all ☕
To bring the curtain down on Love Week 2024, it's time to discuss our favourite romantic flicks to watch when feeling in the mood 💘
Below are some of my go to movies when i'm stocking up on chocolates and roses 🌹😁
Please let me know what you think in the comments below and what are the films that you like to watch at this time of year ↘️
Dirty Dancing (1987)
First up is an all time classic starring Patrick Swayze! Dirty Dancing scores 7/10 on IMDb and was released in 1987. The film is set in the summer of 1963 and whilst spending time at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances "Baby" Houseman falls in love with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle. The movie was a massive hit, especially with teenagers at the time and it It was one of the highest-grossing films of 1987, earning $170 million worldwide. When did you last watch this on the big screen?
Scoring 7.9/10 on IMDb, and starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslett. This film is well worth a watch if you have a spare 3.5 hours 😂 This American romantic epic disaster film combines fictional main characters with some portrayals of passengers and crew based on historical figures. The film became one of the most expensive films ever made, costing approximately US$200 million (more than the Titanic itself), topped the list of highest-grossing films for twelve years and won 11 Academy Awards. Are you a Titanic super fan?
Notting Hill (1999)
Starring Hugh Grant and Julia Reborts, Notting Hill is the next film on the list, scoring 7.2/10 on IMDb William Thacker is a London bookstore owner whose humdrum existence is thrown into romantic turmoil when famous American actress Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) appears in his shop. A chance encounter over spilled orange juice leads to a kiss that blossoms into a full-blown affair. As the average bloke and glamorous movie star draw closer and closer together, they struggle to reconcile their radically different lifestyles in the name of love. Have you ever visited Notting Hill?
Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Rounding off my romantic film choices is the original Beauty and the Beast film made in 1991. The movie follows an arrogant young prince and his castle's servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. The spirited, headstrong village girl Belle enters the Beast's castle after he imprisons her father Maurice. With the help of his enchanted servants, including the matronly Mrs. Potts, Belle begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation. This scores 7.2/10 on iMDB and in 2017 a remake was made starring Emma Watson. Which version do you prefer?
Thanks for taking the time to read through my choices and please also provide your own recommendations below, so i can place them on my list to watch next year 😊
